After Michael Myers' torment of Haddonfield ended four years ago, Laurie and Allyson try to maintain "normal" lives. However, their way of life is once more under threat when a reclusive young man takes on the role of Haddonfield's new terror.

Why did it get this rating?

Graphic violence

There are many lengthy bloody and gory confrontations. Deaths are frequently long, gory, bloody and realistic and all feature gory sound effects.

Examples of violence include an up-close eye gouge, a neck being snapped, a character in a deranged state stabbing themselves in the neck with a large knife, and a character's body being disposed into a car crusher.

Offensive language

Words like "motherf**ker", "f**k", "b**ch" and "a**hole" are frequently used. This mostly happens when individuals are frightened or anxious. Occasionally, this language is used to belittle or intimidate others.

Cruelty

There are many instances of severe cruelty shown which increases in intensity as the film continues. Serious physical pain is shown and focuses on the aftermath of horrific killings.

Killings are close-range and frequently involve knives or gunfire. A shocking scene included a blowtorch being used on a young victim.

Some victims are stalked at night, and some are killed in public.

Horror

The extensive horror and gore, tense atmosphere and graphic scenes of people being killed in various ways are likely to shock and disturb children and younger teenagers.

There is also prolonged use of suspenseful music, loud sound effects, unexpected movements and jump scares.

Bullying

The main antagonist and protagonist are subjected to bullying and abuse from the residents of Haddonfield. A character is beaten, intimidated, bullied and ridiculed several times.

Suicide themes

Police attend to a neighbour’s hanging. It is unclear whether or not they hanged themselves. The scene is mildly shocking but insignificant within the wider context of the film.
